As the nervous system connecting the vehicle’s electrical appliances, the automobile wiring harness carries the task of current and signal transmission. Once the wiring harness fails, it will seriously affect the vehicle’s function and driving safety. Common failure modes of commercial vehicle wiring harness systems mainly include short circuit, open circuit, poor contact, etc. If the cause is investigated, the failure mode can be further subdivided into water ingress, wear, stress, virtual connection, scalding, etc.
QC/T 29106 “Technical Conditions for Automotive Wiring Harness” defines the dry area and wet area of the vehicle. The dry area refers to the area where the wire bundles installed in the cab, passenger compartment, luggage compartment and other parts do not need special waterproof protection treatment, and the wet area refers to the area where the wire bundles other than the dry area need special waterproof protection treatment. Waterproofing is mainly aimed at the wiring harness in the wet area and the transition area of the dry and wet area, mainly including chassis wiring harness, bumper wiring harness, front wall wiring harness, etc.
