Temperature Coefficient
Silicone still has an advantage in the 180°C temperature rating compared to XLPO’s 150°C rating. However, higher ratings are not always required to meet OEM requirements. In fact, most high-voltage applications throughout EVs will meet the 150°C temperature rating.
These high-voltage applications are growing as electric vehicles become more complex. Under current requirements, XLPO can perform well in battery packs, which would normally be used for busbars there rather than cable insulation.
