OTA (Over-the-Air Technology) is “over-the-air technology”. Similar to our common mobile phone update system firmware (software), the car can also remotely update the internal firmware of each controller in the car through the wireless network ( FOTA) and software data (SOTA), this is the so-called automotive OTA technology. Through the OTA method, OEMs can improve the vehicle’s power, braking, battery life, human-computer interaction system and intelligent assisted driving system to provide a better experience. It makes the overall performance and functions of the vehicle more excellent, increases the freshness of the owner, and increases the brand loyalty of the owner to the vehicle.
While automotive OTA brings many benefits, it also poses new challenges to OEMs, whether it is OTA cloud architecture design, information security, background software version control, etc., or vehicle terminal vehicle network diagnosis architecture design, remote fault diagnosis, OTA refresh Processes, ECU software refresh strategies, etc., require OEMs to fully consider and fully test and verify, so as to avoid the phenomenon of “slumping” in the vehicle after the OTA push, resulting in a counterproductive experience for the car owner.
