The soft-start usually ends after the output voltage is normal. The output voltage is higher than the input voltage before the soft-start time ends. Before the PFC inductor and power MOSFET reach the maximum operating current set by the system, the PFC inductor has entered the Working magnetically, PFC inductors have a hard time going into saturation or going deep into saturation. As long as the current of the PFC inductor does not fly (saturate) or deeply (saturate), then the power MOSFET operation is safe.
So what is the reason?
In practical applications, it is found that if the power MOSFET fails without the bypass diode, the failure conditions are usually: the output is fully loaded, the system is subjected to the aging test, the input power failure test, and the process of plugging and unplugging the input AC power supply.
