The charging socket is one of the most frequently used parts and is subject to normal wear and tear. Although today’s interfaces are durable, they can also be damaged by improper forms of use such as cleaning agents, high-pressure water cannons, and violent manipulation. As nearly every manufacturer can attest, humans have an astounding creative capacity for inventing products that improve the quality of life, but also a comparable capacity for destruction.
With this in mind, OEMs should consider the charging socket a component that needs easy maintenance, and it should be designed and assembled so that service technicians can replace it without dismantling the entire wiring harness system.
