EMI electromagnetic interference
Refers to the electromagnetic noise generated by the electrical device itself in the process of performing its due function, which is not conducive to other systems.
The electromagnetic interference test is to measure the magnitude of the electromagnetic wave signal generated and emitted by the device under test under normal working conditions to reflect the strength of the interference to the surrounding electronic equipment. EMI is active, that is, interference to the outside world.
EMI can be further subdivided into conducted disturbances (CE/Conducted emission) conducted from power lines, signal lines or control lines and radiated disturbances (RE/Radiated emission) radiated from the product housing.
EMS Electromagnetic Immunity
Refers to the ability of an electrical device to perform its intended function without being affected by the surrounding electromagnetic environment.
Electromagnetic susceptibility test is to measure the anti-interference ability of the device under test to electromagnetic disturbance. EMS is passive, that is, resistant to external disturbances.
EMS includes the following subdivisions:
●Shell electrostatic discharge immunity (ESD/Electrostatic discharge)
●Electrical fast transient burst immunity (EFT/Electrical fast transient burst) of power lines and signal lines
●Conducted immunity of power line/signal line (CS/Conducted Susceptibility)
