The shift in vehicle acceleration, from gasoline to electric vehicles, has prompted a rethinking of vehicle architecture. OEMs have recognized that the architectural breakthrough brought about by electric vehicles is a great opportunity to optimize the components of the entire vehicle — right down to the basic building blocks of the electrical architecture.
This innovative spirit even extends to the wiring itself, where OEMs are using a type of flat conductor (called a high-voltage bus) as an alternative to traditional cables. Compared to traditional cables, high-voltage busbars can carry more power and maximize space savings within the vehicle, making it easier to automate vehicle assembly, cutting costs and improving safety.
