Due to the complexity and variety of wire harnesses, wire harness manufacturers have two options:
Either divide the wiring into smaller modules (if possible), manufacture it on a dedicated assembly line for each module, and do the final assembly of the wiring later (either at the same production site or at a site close to the automaker);
Or make the final wiring on a larger, more complex assembly line. But regardless of their choice, the same manufacturing and assembly techniques are required for the manufacture and final assembly of the modules.
The production process is organized according to the assembly technology implemented and is usually divided into:
Dynamic Assembly Line: Typically used to manufacture harness modules and smaller harnesses. Several types of dynamic assembly lines have been developed, but the most common ones used to manufacture less complex harnesses consist of fixed assembly plates (pallets), with conveyor belts located in the lower part of the line carrying the harness from one section to another. The production line is organized in such a way that the components for assembly are available at the front, ensuring an ergonomic workstation.
