In the KSK manufacturing method, wire harnesses are manufactured using modules. There are three types of modules in KSK manufacturing:
● Base Modules: These modules are the same in all harnesses
● Mandatory Modules: Each harness must contain at least one group
● Optional modules: these modules enable flexible vehicle configurations
Depending on the OEM’s strategy, there are several modular concepts. The modular concept and size of the harness will determine the number of functional modules. However, each vehicle function generally has its own function module. An important factor here is the correct allocation of material for each unique combination of harness modules, with no duplicate or missing components.
