The automobile wiring harness accounts for about 5% of the mass of the whole vehicle. The automobile wiring harness is composed of wires, wrapping materials, connectors, staples, brackets and other parts, of which the wires account for about 70%, and the lightweight analysis of the wires becomes particularly important.
The vehicle wiring harness can be roughly divided into three categories from the functional classification: power supply wire, ground wire and signal wire. This paper focuses on the advantages and related risks of 0.13mm2 alloy wire replacing traditional signal wire. For signal wires, we will give priority to pure copper with a copper content greater than 99.9% in traditional models considering electrical conductivity, mechanical properties and processing technology. There is still a lot of room for optimization in the light-weight angle of the wiring harness.
