Misfeeds are the most common cause of production downtime. Excessive or insufficient feeds can cause premature wear of the crimping jaws as the terminals contact the jaws surfaces in unprotected areas.
The applicator must have a repeatable feed distance or it will affect tool life and crimp quality. Make sure the feed is set correctly.
Good crimping is not possible when crimping jaws and anvil are misaligned
Die alignment is critical
Improper tool alignment can mean defective products due to excessive flash or terminals getting damaged or bent in the crimp press. It can also shorten tool life, resulting in substandard crimps and premature tool failure .
