The displacement of the conventional closed-cylinder terminal crimping section and the best-designed segmented terminal crimping section when the same force is applied to the crimping section is simulated and examined using the finite element method. The best-designed segmented terminal crimping section is shaped like a drum, and there are two of them. The terminal crimping section is bow-shaped, and the displacement is biggest at half of the proximal end face, which is the crimping contact surface between the cable and the contact terminal. The middle step of the two crimping sections experiences the least deformation and the most displacement. When simulating the crimping process,The area of contact between the cable and the terminal is bigger. The cable’s connection to the contact termination is strengthened by the hook form.
