So, how can today’s automakers resolve the content dilemma? Help development teams reduce the weight, cost, and packaging space required for wire harnesses by introducing methods that add content and technology.
One solution is to develop technology that can reduce the weight of the wiring harness. Ultra-small diameter wiring (0.13mm2) is a good example. Unfortunately, the industry has so far struggled to develop a sufficient number of terminal replacements capable of crimping such small wire diameters for all existing terminals. Products currently available on the market cannot support mass migration to ultra-small diameter cabling.
