New challenges require new solutions
The rapid introduction of new technologies and the influx of automotive startups has created many challenges in harness development. Both OEMs and startups must consider the number and complexity of technical features they integrate into vehicles, as they have a direct impact on harness weight, harness diameter and cost. Electrification, autonomous driving and driver assistance, artificial intelligence and connectivity, all place additional burdens on the wiring harness. These functions require the introduction of dozens of new sensors into the vehicle, all of which must be connected to wiring harnesses, sometimes using special wiring.
