Overhaul of Centrifugal Advance Adjustment Device
Remove the distributor cover, turn the distributor by hand (clockwise), release the distributor, and check whether the distributor can flexibly return counterclockwise under the action of the centrifugal adjustment spring. If the split burner returns quickly, it means that the centrifugal advance adjustment device is normal; otherwise, it means that the adjustment spring tension is too small and should be replaced.
Maintenance of vacuum advance device
Remove the distributor, remove the vacuum hose from the vacuum advance unit, and connect a vacuum pump gauge to the vacuum hose connector. Add vacuum (manual vacuum pump) to about 53.3kPa (400mmHg) on the vacuum pump meter, then release the vacuum suddenly, and observe whether the movable bottom plate of the contact pair moves smoothly. If the movable bottom plate does not move, it means that the movable bottom plate is stuck or the vacuum advance device fails, and it should be removed for repair or replacement.
