In the manufacturing process of the automobile wiring harness, the wires with a cross-sectional area of S ≥ 8 mm2 are usually isolated, and different tooling and equipment are used for separate processing. Among the wires used in a complete set of automobile wiring harnesses, the wires with a cross-sectional area S≥8mm2 account for about 0.5% to 1.0% of the total wire length, mainly concentrated in the power wiring harness, the front cabin wiring harness, and the engine wiring harness.
Usually, for the convenience of transportation and handling, large-section wires are packaged in small rolls of discs. The length of each roll is 100 or 150 m, and the wire discs are wrapped with plastic self-adhesive, PP or PE braided narrow tapes for protection. Each wire disc must have a material label, including wire standard, color, gauge, length, date of manufacture, and manufacturer information.
