Voltage Regulator IC – Although it has three pins and looks very similar to a triode, it is an IC. This power supply uses a 7805 regulator (5V regulator), which is responsible for the voltage regulation of +5VSB. As we mentioned before, the +5VSB uses a separate output circuit because it still needs to provide the +5 V output to the +5VSB even when the PC is powered off. This is why the +5VSB output is also commonly referred to as the “standby output”. The 7805 IC can provide a maximum current output of 1A.
