If a resistor RSW is connected in series between the SW pin of the PWM or driver IC and the switching node, it will not only reduce the turn-off speed of the upper tube, reduce the di/dt, and reduce the peak of the negative voltage; at the same time, since the RSW is connected in series with D1 and In other protection diode loops, the current flowing through D1 and other protection diodes can be further reduced to avoid overcurrent damage or latch-up effect.
RSW is placed on the left (inside) of the bootstrap capacitor CB. RSW only reduces the turn-off speed of the upper tube without affecting its turn-on speed, as shown in Figure 7. If RSW is placed to the right (outside) of CB, as shown in Figure 8, as in series with the G gate, it will reduce both the turn-off and turn-on speed of the upper transistor. However, the resistor connected in series with the gate of G cannot reduce the current of the internal ESD diode.
